International Efforts

Mandate and Key Areas of Focus

The Rotary Club of Whitby's International efforts are guided by Rotary International's Humanitarian Mission and Areas of Focus, including disease prevention, clean water, maternal and child health, education, economic development, environmental sustainability and peace building. 
 
Highlights of few projects supported: PAST and PRESENT
 
Haiti - Little Footprints Big Steps
 
Supported students via grants, strengthening access to education.
 
Nepal – Prabhat School
Provided funding to equip the school with computers, laptops, and a multifunction printer/photocopier.
 
Kenya – Bidii Children’s Charity
Raised funds to support secondary school students since 2013 
 
Zimbabwe - Karanda Mission Hospital
Raised funds for waiting shelters for mothers, ambulance and other needs
 
Egypt - Educational support for 'Jebeleen girls' ( Cairo's informal garbage collectors) through the 'Rising out of ashes' program.
 
Sri Lanka - Advanced learning opportunities, improved accessibility, strengthened community facilities, and supported livelihood skills for economically disadvantaged women.
 
India - Supported education for underprivileged children, life-saving heart surgeries, and medical equipment needs.
